The Medical University in Plovdiv is one of the main educational centres in Bulgaria, which for more than 70 years has been enriching the field of healthcare with many young and motivated professionals who are ambitious to give their professional contribution to society. Over the years, the Medical University has not only remained true to its mission to be a pillar in education and medicine, sending more than 4,000 students a year to hospitals and medical centres, but has grown tirelessly in line with healthcare innovation and student needs. The desire of the whole team of highly qualified lecturers to give students their experience and knowledge was recognized worldwide, when in 2013 at the Summit of Leaders in Science and Education in Oxford, UK, the Medical University of Plovdiv was awarded with the prestigious international award “Best University” for leading positions in the field of education. This European recognition and, of course, Bulgaria’s participation in the European Union are the two main aspects that give international value to the diploma of the Medical University in Plovdiv.

The University of Plovdiv is recognised for its location. Its acknowledgment, along with the many preserved cultural monuments and the carrying out of all kinds of international fairs and exhibitions, as well as other cultural events, raise Plovdiv as the “European Capital of Culture” for 2019.
This is one of the most colourful and at the same time the most hospitable cities in Bulgaria, which enjoys not only the palette of arts that enliven every street in the city, but also the set of diverse nationalities that together manage to maintain the international spirit of the ancient city. Plovdiv is well known as a completely independent district of the creative industries, called Kapana.

Kapana annually delights the people of Bulgaria and especially Plovdiv with carrying out several international festivals between the maze of colourful buildings in the heart of Plovdiv, while remaining a favourite place for creative people with its exciting shops and restaurants such as the emblematic Plovdiv place Central Perk, recreating the atmosphere from the series “Friends”.
