EU and International students
*Requirements may defer depending on the university and course you are applying for.
The following must be enclosed with the application:
• A completed visa application form for (D-type Visa)
• Evidence of the reason for temporary stay (e.g., marriage certificate, university enrolment confirmation or other proof based on purpose of intended stay).
• Proof of secured housing/ Document for Hostel Accommodation Application, Rental Agreement or Notarial Certificate.
• Should the applicant be under 18 years of age, required is a Notarial certified agreement, signed by both parents.
• Evidence of health insurance
• Passport that will be valid for at least two more years.
• Two passport photographs (35 x 45 mm in size) taken within the last three months.
• Application form signed by the applicant.
• Conviction Status Certificate con apostille issued by the Court of Justice.
• Marriage/Family Status Certificate.
• Proof of sufficient funds to support yourself
• Documents enclosed with the application must be either original or a certified copy, while foreign documents have to be translated into Croatian language and certified in line with special regulations.
The visa and residence permit application includes the following steps:
• Once you have been admitted to a study program, you will receive a payment letter for the visa and tuition fee costs.
• After you have paid the fees, we will make an account for you on Visa care+, which is an online platform for the visa and residence permit applications.
• You are then required to upload the above mentioned a list of documents for your specific visa and residence permit application.
• Once all documents and uploaded and approved by Fontys, your application is sent to the IND (Dutch Immigration and Naturalization Service) for validation.
• If the IND approves your application, then you may make an appointment for picking up your entry visa at your nearest Dutch embassy (if applicable).
• The residence permit will be issued to you at the start of your studies.

For the first month bring about €800 – €1000 extra for expenses when you arrive (e.g., for a bike, additional furniture for your room, books, deposit for your accommodation etc.).
Dutch Immigration Service (IND) requires non-EEA students to prove they have access to € 900.00* per month for the first year of the study (living expenses € 10.800) before they start their studies. This requirement is part of the visa procedure.
Work is allowed up to a maximum of 16 hrs, pw throughout the year, or fulltime in the summer months (June to August).
