During the 6th to 10th semester, medical training continues through major clinical rotations in the fields of surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry, and obstetrics and gynecology. SABA University provides this opportunity through in-depth preparation for the USMLE Step 1 exam. By successfully passing the exam, international students are licensed to practice the medical profession and the right of residence in the United States or Canada. To ensure the best possible result, SABA University prepares an in-depth and comprehensive program for the basic sciences. The University provides a structured, integrative review of the basic sciences as part of the fifth semester, entitled “Fundamentals of Clinical Medicine.” At the beginning of this course a diagnostic pre-test is given, through which the problem areas are determined and the learning objectives are indicated, in accordance with the individual needs of the student. At the end of the course a simulated full exam is given in full. It takes place in a state-of-the-art test center on the Saba campus, creating conditions similar to those of the USMLE step 1 exam itself.
Housing options at Saba University include on-campus dormitories and a wide range of homes and apartments off-campus. While all unaccompanied, first-semester students are required to live in the dormitories, second- through fifth-semester students live off campus.
